The SBC Political Action Committee (PAC), SBC PAC, will allow the Structural Building Components industry to better engage with federal lawmakers in Washington, D.C. The PAC supports the component manufacturing industry’s efforts to be a proactive voice and resource, provide a unified industry voice, and advocate for policies that protect and advance manufacturers’ interests.

By actively participating in advocacy efforts, our industry is building strong connections with influential individuals in communities across America who are uniquely positioned to assist member companies in overcoming challenges and seizing future opportunities for growth.

The goal is to target key lawmakers and help them fully understand the essential contributions of component manufacturers to national economic and housing agendas.

SBCA Advocacy Efforts

  • Legislative Fly-In: SBCA representatives travel annually to Capitol Hill to meet with various Members of Congress who are interested in or work with housing and housing-related committees. SBCA acts as the voice of the industry and the association, in addition to stationing itself as a trusted resource for Congress and agencies when it comes to the structural building components industry and affordable, accessible, and available housing.
  • HUD’s Innovative Housing Showcase: SBCA exhibits at the Innovative Housing Showcase, where a house is framed on the National Mall. In 2025, SBCA, NFC, and its partners framed a 3,000 square foot, two-story duplex in 10 hours, showcasing the efficiency of building with structural building components. This display allowed SBCA to demonstrate that components, such as trusses and wall panels, are already a scaled solution to the nation’s housing crisis, aiding in the availability, accessibility, and affordability of homes in the United States.
  • Building Relationships: SBCA continues to build relationships with various Members of Congress and agencies, such as:
    • SBCA works with Congressman Adam Smith (D-WA) as a resource for his Prefabricated Housing and Zoning Enhancement Act.
    • HUD Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for PD&R, John Gibbs
    • HUD Secretary Scott Turner
  • SBCA Advocacy Committee: SBCA’s Advocacy Committee has three subcommittees in order to best serve the association. With the National/Federal Advocacy Subcommittee, the Local/Codes Advocacy Subcommittee, and the State/Chapter Advocacy Subcommittee, SBCA is poised to address multiple levels of advocacy efforts across the nation.
